Doug continues to add to his book collection of technical and historical subjects and to restore antique precision instruments. He also participates in school activities of his two children and supports his wife in her pursuits as a marathon runner. He remains active in pro bono activities with L.A. County Bar Association.
Doug earned his B.A. in English from California State University, Fullerton following service in the United States Army. He earned his Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He is admitted to practice in the State of California as a Certified Appellate Law Specialist, in the U.S. District Court, Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Doug is a member of the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where he has served on the Appellate Courts Committee since 1987 and the Appellate Judicial Evaluations Committee since 2006. He is a member of the Irish-American Bar Association, previously having served as President, the Pasadena Bar Association and the Association for Southern California Defense Counsel, for which he edited Verdict Magazine from 1991-93. He is a Settlement Officer for the California Court of Appeal.
