David Barker is past chairman of the Los Angeles County Bar Association committee, “Leading Dialogues on Freedom,” which was begun in response to the events of 9/11. The committee sends attorney and judge volunteers into the classrooms of the Los Angeles Unified School District to speak with students about democracy and its inherent freedoms.
Dave’s practice focuses on the professional liability defense of architects and engineers. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (Inland Chapter), the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County and Pasadena Bar Associations, as well as the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Dave is admitted to practice in the States of California and Nevada, the U.S. District Court, Central District, Northern District, and Nevada District, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Dave has authored a number of articles for design professional organizations on topics ranging from contracts, the risks of condominium projects, to copyright. He earned his B.A. in Political Science and Business Administration from California Lutheran University. He received his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he served on the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court, the California Defense Lawyers Trial Team, and the American Bar Association Trial Team.
